Step 1
It boggles the mind, all this clutterBy clutter in your mind, I mean worry, jealousy, envy, negativity, sadness, depression, anxiety, self-consciousness, obsessiveness, and others I may not have thought of. All of this clutter holds you back, keeps you from performing at your peak. You spin your wheels and get no where. But having said all that, I know it is easier said than done to let it all go. Maybe, let one go at a time, let weaning off of cigarettes.
-
Step 2
If you can get rid of the clutter in your mind, now it is time to get rid of the clutter in your life.
Are you in a relationship that is going nowhere? That is clutter. Get rid of it. Is there someone around you that is pulling you down? Clutter! Get away from it. Does someone put you down? Stay away from them. Examine your relationships honestly and determine which ones are good for you, and divorce yourself from the ones that are harming you. -
Step 3
Get rid of clutterNow for the clutter in your house. You knew we would get there sooner or later. For we all have it, or at least, I don't know anyone that doesn't. But very shortly, I vow that I am going to be one of those without clutter. I am going to be moving into a one bedroom apartment, and I have a lifetime of (stuff). You hold onto because you think, I might need that some day; and sometimes you really do, but 99% of the time, you don't. So, it multiplies and grows and quadruples until you are overtaken with STUFF!
-
Step 4
Sweep it AwayI don't know how many people have had this happen to them, but it has happened to me countless times. I have a strong belief in God, let me preface it by saying that. All I have to do is speak that I need, or not even necessarily need, maybe just want, something, and within a short time, maybe a day, maybe a week, it will come to me. It is truly amazing. Not only are all your needs supplied, but your wants as well.
My point is, why not share the wealth that we have accumulated over the years, that is just sitting around waiting for us to need it someday; have a yard sale. Sell the stuff really cheap just to get rid of it. What you don't get rid of, donate to a charity.
Do you really need 5 dinner services? 20 serving bowls? 10 spatulas? 10 scissors? 50 blouses? 50 shoes? All those little odds and ends in the junk drawer? The stuff in boxes in the attic/basement/garage/stuck in closets? Do you need more than 2 sheet sets at a time? I am going to keep 4 of everything; 4 plates, bowls, glasses, cups, forks, spoons, etc. It will mean less dishes to wash. I will need less storage space.
I am talking serious scaling back here. Simplify your life. Don't let this stuff rule you anymore. Think of the time you spend just in dusting them. I have lighthouses and David Winter Cottages that I have collected over the years. I hardly ever look at them. I have nice crystal and dinner ware that never gets used. It all goes. I'm going to have a $1 table and $2 table and $3 table and so on. I really want to get rid of the stuff.
Think how freeing it is to not have to be accountable to your STUFF anymore!
