I live in Tennessee and it’s one thing about us southerners is that we love our sweet tea. Everybody makes tea a little different, but I’m going to share with you the way I make mine.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 family size bags of luzianne tea. You may use any brand, but I use Luzianne.
  • Cold Water
  • Pot for boiling water
  • 3 cups of sugar. If you don’t like your tea too sweet; you can use 2 and one half cups or less.
  • 1 Gallon Container
  1. Step 1

Fill your pot with cold water, maybe half full….not too full though; turn burner on medium/high and bring water to a boil.

  2. Step 2

After the water has began to boiled, turn the burner to low.

  3. Step 3

Add 3 cups of sugar to the water and stir the sugar in the hot water until it melts.

  4. Step 4

Turn burner off and remove the pot from the burner.

  5. Step 5

Add your 3 family size tea bags.

  6. Step 6

Cover the pot with a top and let it sit for approximately 10 – 15 minutes.

  7. Step 7

Remove the tea bags from the pot and pour the tea into your 1 gallon container.

  8. Step 8

Fill the rest of your container with cold water and stir.

  9. Step 9

Pour over a tall glass of ice, put a lemon wedge on the side of your glass, kick your heels off and enjoy your cool beverage under the sun.

Tips & Warnings
  • As indicated in the article, I use 3 cups of sugar; which may be too much for some. Play around with it until you find the sweetness you prefer. You can always add more sugar but you can't take away.

on 5/10/2009 YOur sweet tea recipe brings back many fond memories of my Mom who made it for us all her life. She grew up in Greenville, South Carolina. Yup, may have to check the sugar amounts for the perfect sweetness! Thanks!
