Clean a Waxed Hardwood Floor

Here is the best way to clean a waxed hardwood floor. Waxing a hardwood floor is not a great idea because of the continual upkeep. However, if you prefer a waxed hardwood floor the best way to do it is to apply the wax in light, even coats until you get the shine you want. If you have reached that beautiful shine on your hardwood floor but need to clean it without messing up the beautiful shiny waxed surface, here's how:

Things You'll Need:

mop bucket
sponge mop
white distilled vingar
wax paper
rubberband

Step 1

To clean the hardwood floor, first, use a sponge mop for your tool. Dip it into the mixture of 1/4 cup of distilled white vinegar and one gallon of water.
Step 2

Be sure to wring the extra water out of the sponge mop. Don't let it be sopping wet. You will want to use it only as a damp mop.
Step 3

Once you have lightly damp mopped and removed the layer of dirt, to pick the shine back up, just place a piece of wax paper over the mop head and secure it with a rubber band.
Step 4

Run it back and forth lightly over the floor to restore shine. Use this method between waxing and give the floor the once over to keep the shine even.

Tips & Warnings

This will always give you a beautiful cleaning and shine.
Don't slosh the vinegar water all over the floor. The floor has to be damp mopped for best results.
Clean your way to a doorway. Don't get stuck in the room till it drys.
Block entrances to the room so family or friends don't accidently come in.
