Things You'll Need:

  • Antiques to purchase
  1. Step 1

Watch your local, off beat thrift stores. Obviously, folks like the Goodwill and Salvation Army, but these days hospitals, human societies and other nonprofits open used thrift store and their donation base is strong. The selection will give you a wide variety to choose from.

  2. Step 2

Be the early bird at the garage sale. If you have the opportunity to go garage sale hunting, then start as early as you can to see what is out there. Don't be afraid to discuss to get a good price!

  3. Step 3

Watch the neighbors. Sometimes, when we visit the neighbors for scheduled parties or even a backyard BBQ we see items that may be for sale or taking up space. Offer your neighbor a fair price, especially in this economy, and see yourself walking home with an antique.

  4. Step 4

Finally, don't forget to watch for estate sales. There are two types of estate sales to ponder. Those sales who hire a company to liquidate items (which means that every item will be at a high value) or families who are looking to dispose of their items without drawing in a lot of drama. Look for the small sales to pick the perfect antiques at good prices.
