If your portfolio is down on it's luck you might even see some stocks making the headlines of the news because it's tumbled so much. With the market the way it is, it's a good idea to keep a close eye on your investments. It's a way to know when to buy, when to sale & when to panic. 1. Do it the old fashioned way. Before the internet, investors had to look to the newspaper for current stock prices. The Wall Street Journal was considered to be one of the best. Granted, if you use this method you won't have the up to the minute information that you'd get on the web. However, you also won't be tempted to spend all day checking tickers online.

2. Do it the new fashioned way. You can have current stock prices delivered to your cell phone. The advantage to this is that you'll be able to know what is going on with the stock market even if you aren't around a computer. You can usually only choose up to twenty quotes. Some of these services claim to be free but check with your cell service provider first to make sure that you can handle all of the text messages with your current plan. You can also have alerts sent to your cell phone when a stock reaches a certain price.

3. Get a widget. There are lots of free widgets that you can use to find current stock prices. Depending on the widget you can add it to your desktop or even to facebook or your blog. There are even wordpress plugins that will allow you to place a stock ticker in the sidebar of your blog. Just make sure that you don't share any of your investments that you don't want the whole world knowing about if you post it on a social bookmarking site.

4. Use an add on. There are several addons that you can affix to your web browser to find current stock prices. These will add a stock ticker to the top of your browser so you can keep track of what your stock is doing while you are surfing the web.
