I remember as a child painting stained glass in art class for a project. Since then I have painted a couple of stained patterns myself. Stained glass art makes great gifts for family and friends.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • glass
  • glass cutter
  • glass grinder
  • glass paint
  • latex gloves
  • safety glasses
  • paint brush
  • spray adhesive
  1. Step 1

Have two copies of the pattern you will like to use. One copy will be used when you cut out the pattern to be used on the glass, and the other will be used for the layout pattern when painting.

  2. Step 2

Cut out the pattern pieces of the rose and lay pieces on the glass, (make certain to wear safety glasses while cutting or grinding glass, and latex gloves are a good idea also). Coat the back of the pattern pieces with spray adhesive. Next score the pattern using a glass cutter. Score each piece of the rose and break each piece of glass if need be, before moving on to the next.

  3. Step 3

Using a glass grinder, grind the edge of the glass to make as smooth as possible. Once you have followed the pattern and cut the glass pieces out correctly, remove the paper pattern and remove spray adhesive from the glass.

Now using the second pattern use it to follow while painting glass for detailed painting. You could lay the glass pieces over the second pattern and paint while looking down at the second pattern underneath.

Using a miniature paint brush, paint the free form design with glass paint onto the glass pieces. (Do not use spray paint, face, body, or concrete paint)
