The BlackBerry Bold is an awesome device. However, the day may come when you want to give your Bold to someone else. If that day comes, reset your BlackBerry Bold to its factory settings so that the person will not have all of your personal information. This is also something you can do if your Bold ever completely locks up or is not working correctly.

      Press the "Menu" key, the button to left of trackball, and scroll to the Settings folder. There is a picture of a wrench in the folder. Select "Settings" with the trackball.

      Highlight "Options" and select.

      Scroll down to "Security Options" and select. Highlight "General Settings" and select.

      Press the "Menu" key. Highlight "Wipe Handheld" and select. A box will appear warning you that all application data will be lost. Select "Include Third Party Applications," and then select "Continue."

      Enter the word "blackberry" to confirm wipe. Do so and the Bold will restore itself to factory settings.

Tips & Warnings

  • Back up all data you need to your computer before attempting this process.

  • You will lose all your data once you restore your BlackBerry Bold to its factory settings.
