Ever been burned by a weight loss scam. Has the fad diet yo-yo taken too much money from you? This is how you can spot the scam.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Many fad diet and weight loss scams are based on the truth. They are either partial truth marketed and or over exaggerated with claims and benefits that are impossible to achieve. Or the scam is inferior duplicate of a viable solution sold to ride the wave of a successful product. And they almost always are high priced products sold with little or no customer support. This is how you spot the scam.

  2. Step 2

The exaggerated unbelievable claim. As a child growing up watching TV my mother would always tell me if it sounds to good to be true it ain't true.
Many weight loss scams claim you can loss weight without dieting or exercising. Sometimes you will have temporary weight loss but never permanent and many times the diet or supplement is not good for your health

  3. Step 3

Lets look at some of the unbelievable claims.
    a) Lose weight without dieting or exercise
    b) Eat whatever you want and still lose weight
    c) Lose Weight fast: 20 pounds in 2 weeks
    d) Lose weight with miracle diet patch, gel, pill, etc

You get the idea. There are no miracle cures. The are no new never before discovered natural pills or supplements. There is no permanent weight loss without a healthy diet and regular exercise.

  4. Step 4

Also be wary of the companies. Most companies you have never heard of before. So claims like money back guarantee or free trial are useless if you can verify them to be true. Some reputable companies use a 3rd party that is reputable that will stand behind the claims and refund money for unsatisfied customers or halt the delivery of the products. So do your due diligence before you sign up for any product. Check out the company and the 3rd party distributor with the better business bureau. If possible do not be the first to try everything.

  5. Step 5

There are good products and good companies that are small and relatively new. I would avoid extraordinary claims and companies that I can not talk to prior to purchasing product. Do your due diligence!

Tips & Warnings
  • Due Diligence
  • If it is too good to be true, it ain't true.
