Things You'll Need:
- A warm place with sun and good drainage.
-
Step 1
In a garden bed or pot, place the tomatillo seeds about 1/4 of an inch under the ground. If you want to be safe, stick a toothpick next to the seed so you won't think the seedling is a weed.
-
Step 2
Water the dirt. The seedling should appear above the ground within a few days.
-
Step 3
Be sure to have at least two tomatillo plants near each other. This is because tomatillo plants require another plant of the same species in order to give fruit. A solitary tomatillo plant may not give any fruit.
-
Step 4
Fertilize and add water. Make sure the plant is kept warm and has good drainage.
-
Step 5
When the tomatillos appear, harvest them and pull off the husk to use them in your favorite dish.

on 4/10/2009 The toothpick idea is genius. I ripped up every one of my pepper plant, one year, thinking they were weeds!! Thanks for the simple and precise instructiond for growing tomatillo plants (yum!).
