Learn how to make an excellent impression on that first date.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Be a Good Listener.

Keep your ears open to what your date is saying. Make comments along the way that ensure the person that you are interested in the topic.
Listening conveys that you are interested in learning more about them.

  2. Step 2

    Dress in Appropriate Attire.

Did you know that what you wear can say a lot about you? Pick out an outfit prior to your date that is fitting to your personality. If you are artsy, wear something unique and perhaps a red beret. However, if you hold conservative views, dress more reserved to appear mature. You could even wear a trendy outfit if you are into the latest styles.
Buy a new piece if you cannot find anything in the closet.

  3. Step 3

    Stimulate the Conversation.

Ask open-ended questions. For example, ask "What he/she likes to do in their spare time." Making such inquiries is better than asking questions that only require a "yes" or "no" answer.

Be careful not to dominate the conversation, especially if you are a self-professed "talker."

  4. Step 4

    Make Eye-Contact.

Look at your date during your meeting. However, glance away from time to time, to avoid a direct stare-down. Maintaining eye-contact is one of the most important things to do on a first date.

  5. Step 5

    Be Respectful to your Date.

Don't leave your manners at home!!! Say "please" and "thank you" at the right times. Compliment your date once or twice to assure him/her that you approve of them.

  6. Step 6

    Practice Good Body Language.

Sitting and standing with an open posture indicates that you are relaxed with your date. Be careful not to sit with your arms crossed.
Also, try to avoid sitting your body away from your date. It is best to keep somewhat aligned with the direction of their body.
