A visit from the Bunny!
A visit from the Bunny!

Whether you need to keep the kids entertained on Easter Sunday or you just want to have a pre-holiday party that is fun for all, here are a few ideas for games and crafts that are sure to be a hit.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Stage a visit from the Easter Bunny. You can buy or rent a costume from a costume or party goods store. The bunny can pose for pictures or be the collector of the eggs in an Easter egg hunt.

  2. Step 2

With or without the bunny, an Easter egg scavenger hunt is a fun activity to keep everyone entertained. A fun idea is to hide the eggs the kids have colored or you can just use plastic ones from the store.

  3. Step 3

Color eggs. With some hard boiled eggs and an egg coloring kit, you can provide hours of amusement. See How to Have an Egg Coloring Party in the resources below.

  4. Step 4

Play Bunny Hop Musical Chairs. This is played like the traditional musical chairs only the kids have to hop like bunnies and the music used is the Bunny Hop song. You can even provide all the kids with bunny ears to wear while they hop around the chairs. Bunny ears can likely be found at the dollar store, craft store or party goods store during the Easter season.

  5. Step 5

The classic game of hot potato can be modified to fit your Easter theme. You can have the children pass a carrot instead of a potato; an egg or a stuffed bunny or chick would serve well, too.

  6. Step 6

Play “Pin the tail on the Bunny.” Like the classic donkey game, but this version uses a bunny and a cottontail instead.

  7. Step 7

Have an Easter egg rolling contest. Use hard boiled or plastic eggs and have the kids “race” on their hands and knees. The trick is that they have to push their egg to the finish line using only their noses.

  8. Step 8

Face painting is an activity loved by most kids. If you have already provided bunny ears, painting on the nose and whiskers is like painting the icing on the cake.

  9. Step 9

Bake Easter cookies. You can use Easter themed cookie cutters or buy the “slice and bake” kind which come already decorated. These can be found in your grocery store refrigerated section.

  10. Step 10

Bake an Easter Bunny cake. The kids will love creating, decorating and eating this cute cake. See How to Bake an Easter Bunny Cake in the resources below.

  11. Step 11

Build a Bunny House. Most craft stores sell kits of these houses that are similar to gingerbread homes, but with an Easter theme.

  12. Step 12

For the games, you will want to give out prizes. Be sure to have something for everyone, not just the winners. Visit the dollar store, craft store and party store for inexpensive treasures such as Easter themed stickers and coloring books.
