Kids crafts make great gifts and these pin cushions can make a gift for many occasions. For this Easter, try making an Easter mouse, Easter bunny or baby chick pin cushion. These will not only look adorable but are a handy way to store your straight pins when you need them. The instructions below are for the mouse pin cushion.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Baby Food Jar
  • Cloth
  • Cotton Balls
  • Colored Craft Foam or Construction Paper
  • Wiggle Eyes
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Pink Pom Pom
  • Hot Glue
  • Scissors
  1. Step 1

Clean your baby food jar and remove the label. This is easiest if you let it soak in warm soapy water first.

  2. Step 2

Fill the jar with white cotton balls or buttons.

  3. Step 3

Cut out a piece of cloth 3 times larger than the lid. Using the hot glue, glue the cloth onto the lid (overlapping the lid just a bit). Continue to glue on the cloth to the lid pinching and pleating the cloth as you go to cover 1/4 of the rim of the lid.

  4. Step 4

Stuff several pieces of cotton balls under the cloth (on top of the lid). Finish gluing on the cloth to the edge of the lid. You will have to push the cotton in to keep it in place.

  5. Step 5

Trim off excess cloth. You now have the "cushion" for your pins.

  6. Step 6

Add the features of your chosen animal to the baby food jar. For the mouse, we cut some ears using craft foam, used wiggle eyes (of course for the eyes) and pipe cleaners for the whiskers. We finished it off with a cute pink pom pom nose.

  7. Step 7

Lastly, push your straight pins into the cushion and your kids craft project is done. This kids craft idea is now ready to be given as a gift or keep around for some cute Easter or holiday decorations.
