Refresh Your Life This Spring
Refresh Your Life This Spring

Spring is here!! Everyone is coming out of their houses and rediscovering the world around them. How will you discover and refresh your life this spring? Here are some ideas to get you started.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • An open mind
  • Time
  • The willingness to give these things a try!
  1. Step 1

The changing of the season is a great thing. How about you? Is there a change you would like to make in your life? Start simple with a new haircut, or a new pair of jeans. Then, when you are ready to move to the next step, change how you eat. Less donuts and more fruit.

  2. Step 2

Get out and inhale the fresh air!! Get your bike down from the bike rack and grab your helmet. Start out slowly, just going around your block. If you don't like biking, walk. Don't forget the dog if you have one. If you want to step it up a bit, jog for one-half block, walk the rest of the way. I NEVER ran and hated it, and now I am running 1/2 marathons and can't get enough of the morning air and how beautiful it is to be outside and in the world.

  3. Step 3

Clean out the clutter and take care of items that are bothering you. Make a list of items you need to take care of: get taxes done, clean gutters, call my sister, make that dentist appointment that I've been putting off, etc. You'd be surprised how great you will feel when some of these "not so fun" items get taken care of. You will feel refreshed and ready to enjoy your life.

  4. Step 4

All of us have heard the term "Spring Cleaning". Many people feel the need to clean house and get ready for summer. If you have the urge, move your winter clothes out and your summer clothes in, get rid of items you don't want (give them to a charity or have a garage sale), clean and vacuum your car, and put paperwork away. Then you'll be ready for the summer!

  5. Step 5

Now, the outside of your house. Is there garbage in the yard? How about old flower pots and other items. Put on an old jacket, grab a garbage bag or two, get some gloves on, and get outside. Pick up garbage and any other old items laying in your yard. Put away snow shovels, old tires, anything that is in the way. When you are done, your yard will be ready for flowers and other spring items.

  6. Step 6

Spring makes us all feel new and ready for anything. Try something that is outside of your comfort zone. Run a 5k race, plan a picnic, rent a canoe, plant a garden, go to a community celebration in your community -- anything that you might enjoy. Don't forget to include your family and your extended family as well.

  7. Step 7

Spring is about a fresh start. Contact loved ones that you haven't spoken to in a while, go visit a friend from college, bury the hatch with someone you have had a spat with. Life is too short to not speak to someone you love. Rebuild your sense of belonging in the world and have no regrets. The rest of your year will be full of new and wonderful things!
