Food, exercise, and sleep can help reduce pollen allergies. You may still have mild symptoms, but you may also be able to avoid taking over the counter medications for allergies with easy changes to your daily routine.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

~Eat honey from local wildflowers daily to reduce pollen allergies.~

Some claim that honey from local wildflowers helps your body adjust to the pollens in the air. I've found it does make a difference. It's important that the honey is bought from a local beekeeper who has bees among the wildflowers in your area. I find local honey at a local outdoor market.

You can use local honey on toast, in tea, on oatmeal, and in lemonade. Anytime you would use a sweetener, use the honey from local wildflowers during allergy season.

  2. Step 2

~Eat protein regularly to reduce pollen allergies.~

Protein especially in the form of red kidney, pinto, black, and garbanzo beans combined with pasta and cheese or other grains and dairy products helps keep energy levels up and consistent.

  3. Step 3

~Eat whole fresh foods to reduce pollen allergies.~

Whole grains, whole fruits instead of juices, and fresh vegetables especially deep leafy greens will help your body process foods and eliminate toxins.

  4. Step 4

~Take good vitamins to reduce pollen allergies.~

Taking good vitamins will help with alertness and energy levels which are especially needed to function effectively with pollen allergies.

  5. Step 5

~Get in the pool to reduce pollen allergies.~

Take an aqua aerobic class, swim laps, or play with your kids in the pool. Other exercises are helpful, but getting in a pool seems to be the best in my experience.

  6. Step 6

~Plan for an extra hour of sleep nightly to reduce pollen allergies.~

It is taking extra energy for your body to produce allergy symptoms, so give yourself a little extra rest to keep from getting run down and sick.

Tips & Warnings
  • Controlling allergies naturally so no prescription medications are needed may help keep health insurance costs low or help to qualify for good health insurance.
  • This is intended for adults. For children, contact their doctor first for healthy introduction of foods.
  • If you are pregnant or a nursing mother, contact your doctor before eating honey or changing diet.
  • Contact your doctor before using local honey if you have dietary restrictions.
  • If you think the local honey is making your allergies worse, discontinue using the honey and contact your doctor.
