How to Find Cheap TVs

Buying a new television set can be expensive, but there are ways to find cheap TVs that you can use to find a decent set that will having you watching your favorite shows and movies in no time! The cheapest TVs that you will be able to find are likely to be used TV sets.

HDTV sets and flat screen TVs are still carrying a hefty price tag, so if you don't mind an older TV set then you will be able to find cheap TVs much easier.

  1. Step 1

    First thing you want to do to find cheap TVs is to look online. Go to www.craigslist.org where you will be able to find local people who are trying to sell their TV sets.

  2. Step 2

    When you are on the website, click on the city in which you reside. Or click on the closest major city to yours.

  3. Step 3

    In the left hand side of the website you will see a 'Search Craigslist' option that will search for items for sale. Type in 'tv' or 'television' and hit the arrow button.

  4. Step 4

    Now a list will pull up for TV sets that are being sold locally. To find cheap TVs, look toward the top of the page, you want to enter in the 'Max' price that you are willing to pay and hit enter on your keyboard. Now the search results will narrow down by price.

  5. Step 5

    Review the listings and search for ones where the seller may be moving soon or listings that say OBO (meaning 'or best offer') and call to negotiate a lower price.

    Once you have negotiated with the seller, choose a time where you can come over to make sure that the TV works and to pick it up. Remember to bring cash when you going to buy the TV set as most people will only sell items for cash.

  6. Step 6

    If you are not comfortable going online to find cheap TVs, then try your local Goodwill or Salvation Army. Most carry older TV sets that have been donated for around $25-$100+. They will usually have the TVs plugged in so that you can make sure they are working sets.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try to look for a TV set during the week when most people are working and too busy to be looking online for cheap TVs, you may be able to score a deal with someone who is desperate to get rid of their TV set fast.
  • If you are electronically inclined, then you might search under Craigslist's 'Free' section where people may be trying to get rid of non-working TV sets
  • If you don't happen to find cheap TVs that are to your liking, then check back then next day, people are always posting new listings on Craigslist, so keep searching until you find a TV set that you will be happy with.
