Things You'll Need:
- photoshop
- digital photograph
-
Step 1
To begin with you need to bring the digital photograph up in photoshop. There are various ways to do this. You could right click on the photograph and click open with photoshop, if you have photoshop open you can click file open and browse for it, or you can double click the grey background in photoshop and browse for you photograph just to name a few.
-
Step 2
With the photograph brought up in the program now you need to go to layers, create adjustment layer, levels. The reason you use a layer to do this and not directly over original file is with a layer you can always go back and readjust for any mistakes that may have been made. Save often with different file names while you have layers on save as a psd file and when you have the finished file you want to save as a tiff. The reason for this is they are loss less files, they may take up more room but you wont get the artifacts you will with jpeg. While you save as a psd use most compatible method this way the file can be open in just about any imaging software.

Step 3
With levels open you will want to go thru each channel, red, green, and blue and adjust the sliders to touch the edges of the mountains so there is no white between edge of mountain. After you have all the color channels adjusted go back to the white black channel and to same with this channel. Then you can adjust the middle grey slider to get the proper contrast you want. Hopefully this was helpful good luck and happy trails.
