Step 1
When to regrip: Time interval.
Rule of thumb is every 2-3 years if you play a lot of golf. Longer if you are an occassional player. If you store your clubs in the house the grips may not break down as quickly due to exposure to heat extremes. If you leave your clubs in the trunk of your car, the extreme heat and cold may have a small impact in decreasing the length of time between regripping your clubs. -
Step 2
When to regrip: Wear.
You will be tell when the wear on the grip requires the need to regrip when the material begins to get too smooth, has an end that has loosened or has visible points of wear where you hands land on the grip. While you may notice these during normal playing days and think that they do not impact your play, it is when you are playing in the wet that the impaired grip negatively impacts your game. -
Step 3
Regripping clubs is very cheap compared to the initial investment in the club. If you have clubs that you feel contribute to your success on the links, be vigilant in regripping. The cost is about $6 to $10 per club. Worth every penny to have full control over your swing!

Step 4
Where to get the club regripped? Any golf specialty store or golf proshop can do this for you. Most golf pro's will also be able to quickly regrip your club before you play.
