      Logo

Create a logo for yourself. This could be your name or the name of your business in combination with a graphic.

    • 2

Check out other clothing labels from within your own closet. Ask yourself what you like or don't like about that manufacturer's particular label. Now apply it to your logo.

    • 3

Seek out several different companies that make clothing labels. There are several different types of labels that you can create. For example, there are leather, rubber, and fabric labels available on the market today.

Most of these companies will have an online catalog or request for one to be mailed. Almost every catalog you receive will come with sample clothing labels.

Determine the size and type of label best suited for your clothing. You don't want your clothing label to be overbearing, but noticeable. And, the larger the label the higher the cost from the manufacturer.

    • 5

Some label manufacturers will provide pre-printed designed labels where all you have to do is provide the name to go on them. These labels tend to be less expensive then those you would add your own graphic to design.

    • 6

Keep your clothing label design simple, state the brand or name you are accrediting to the apparel. Try to stick to one name, one graphic (or none) and one background color.

    • 7

Use a word program on your computer to layout the format of your clothing label. Experiment with graphics, graphic placing, colors, and font styles until you have come up with a signature label all your own.

    • 8

Now that you have designed your label, chose a manufacturer and send off your design for print.

Tips & Warnings

  • Choose a graphic and initials for your label design.

  • Create several different labels on your computer and ask others for their opinions to help you decide.

  • Look for a fresh concept or attractive design. It's not your label that will sell your product, but your product that will attract others to your label.
