If you use bananas in smoothies or other recipes here is a great money saving tip. Buy the bananas when they are on sale then freeze them for future use!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bananas
  1. Step 1

Freezing bananas is oh so easy!!! Just peel them and put them in a plastic bag and pop them in the freezer. You can break them into chunks or just freeze them whole. I freeze them whole because they are easy to break apart even when frozen.

  2. Step 2

Next time you want to make a smoothie plop a frozen banana in the blender with some milk and a few ice cubes and you have a quick and easy and healthy treat! You can toss in a couple frozen strawberries too!

  3. Step 3

If you need bananas for another recipe like banana nut bread just take out what you need and let them thaw then mash them for your recipe!

  4. Step 4

You can freeze the bananas when they are ripe or when they are still green. If they are too ripe they tend to stick together in the bag so you may want to freeze them in separate baggies. Just be sure to peel them first so you can use them while still frozen for smoothies. You can freeze bananas with the peeling on (the peeling gets black but don't worry about that) but then you have to let them thaw to get the peeling off. So it's better to peel them first. Enjoy!
