Sewing your own pillows can save money and allow you to pick your own fabric and style.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

First when sewing your pillow, it must be started inside out. With the fabric top facing to the inside, match the outside of the cut pillow pattern and sew with the sewing machine leaving about three inches not sewn.

  2. Step 2

Next, using the hole you left unsown, turn the pillow right side out. Add your stuffing depending on how soft or firm you would like the pillow to be.

  3. Step 3

To close the hole, get the thread you used to sew it together, and thread a small needled. You will close the pillow by hand. Turn under the side of the fabric. Put the needle inside the pillow if you can, and use a straight stitch. If there isn't enough room, you can use a loop stitch on the outside. Finish closing the pillow, and tie off the thread.

Tips & Warnings
  • Leave enough open space to turn the pillow right side out and stuff it.
  • Turn under the fabric on the open spot just like where you have sown with the machine.
