Step 1
Determine if you qualify. You must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident with a green card. You must be at least 18 years old and have a social security number. In addition, you'll have to pass an employment test.

Step 2
Schedule an employment test. Log on to the U.S. Census Center website, or call their toll free number 1-866-861-2010 to find a testing center near you.

Step 3
Fill out the Employment Eligibility Verification form. Make sure you have the appropriate form(s) of ID to bring with you when you go to the testing center.

Step 4
Fill an out application form. You can download it from their website.

Step 5
Prepare for the test. Take the online practice test. It tests basic math, clerical and reasoning skills.

Step 6
Go to the testing center on the day of your test. Be sure to bring proper identification.
