How to be an Interesting Date

Being an interesting person is an important characteristic to have for many aspects of life. If one is not interesting than they are boring and nobody wants to hangout with a bore let alone date one. People don't listen when they are uninterested, they drift off and decide to get out of here. This article will teach you how to keep them hanging on to your every word over dinner and keep them interested in you.

   Know this truth: If you are not interesting than people are going to be uninterested in you. Sure they might not realize that they would have better conversations with a mannequin until late in the game, but they will eventually find out that your a drag.

   How do you know if you're rather boring? Well, a clear indication that your date is probably wishing you would shut up is that for the last five dates you have talked about the same thing over and over and over again and again. Wasn't my usage over again tedious to read and unnecessary? That's how your date feels. I don't care how important you are at your job, or how much you love to play The Sims, if this is the only thing you ever talk about you are boring him or her and it's only a matter of time before they decide to leave you.
   
   I dated a religious guy once. All he talked about was his faith. Same old same old, and he bored me to death.

   The way to be interesting is to be interested. If you have no passions in life, you're not going to be able to light a fire under someone. You can become interesting by educating yourself. Read books and newspapers, stay up on current events so you have something to talk about. Be curious and absorb as much about this world as you can. The more things you can discuss in a lively manner, the more interesting you will be.

   To expand on step 3: If you are interested in the person you are conversing with they will naturally become interested in you. Everybody's favorite subject is themselves. If you ask them personal open ended questions about their interest you are off to a good start.

   Interesting people are good at sharing. You can't be interested in someone who won't tell you anything. Being good at sharing is not the same as talking and talking and talking and talking about yourself. It means you share thoughts, you let people know you without having to talk about yourself.
   
   For example: I like comic books, but instead of flat out saying i am a comic book geek, i will uses references, or get into a heated debate about why Superman, AKA Clark Kent, AKA, Kal-El is more wicked than Batman. Let things about who you are be presented in a natural manner, otherwise it might seem phony, like you're just trying to impress.

   Get a hobby. Learn to draw, sing, dance. Learn how to make pottery, or start a blog. Just light a fire in your belly with something and you will be able to keep your date interested.

Tips & Warnings

• Be open-minded in discussions. It's very hard not to defend a point of view you hold dear, but an inflexible stand will annoy and irritate others
