How to Make a Paper Nurses Cap
In the not so distant past, nurses were required to report to work wearing all white -- uniform, hose, oxford shoes and a nurse's cap with a school pin. Nurses working in special units or the operating room were the only staff allowed to wear scrubs, and in some hospitals they still reported to work in their uniforms, changing into scrubs only just before their shifts. As women's fashion changed to include pants as appropriate in the workplace, so did nursing uniforms and caps slowly became optional and then archaic. This was not entirely a smooth transition. Some older physicians refused to speak to nurses sans caps, often necessitating a shared hat or a quick disposable one on many units.

Tips & Warnings
The larger filters used for a shared coffeemaker work best.
Avoid the unbleached filters as they look more like coffee filters and less like nursing caps.
