How to Decide on Walt Disney World Tickets

Meet Mickey and Minnie at Walt Disney World.

When planning a trip to Orlando, Florida to visit Walt Disney World, you need to choose a type of ticket to purchase. There are many options, and they can be overwhelming. Simplify your ticket purchase and get ready for the vacation of a lifetime.

Instructions

    • 1

Research the Magic Your Way base ticket. Base tickets allow you to visit one park each day. While you can leave and come back, you can only return to that particular park. A base ticket will allow you to explore Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios on any given day.

    • 2

Research the Park Hopper option. This allows you to visit any of the four parks throughout the day until closing time. For instance, with a Park Hopper ticket you can check out Animal Kingdom until noon, have lunch at Epcot, and head to Magic Kingdom that night. The Park Hopper option costs more by the day than base tickets.

    • 3

Check out the Water Park Fun and More option, which gives you access to Disney Quest Theme Park, Disney's Wide World of Sports, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Golfers should note that this add-on allows you to reserve a tee time at the Oak Trail golf course.

    • 4

Think about the No Expiration option if you plan to visit Walt Disney World again in the future. This program allows you to purchase your ticket, use what you want, and come back years from now to use the remaining time.

    • 5

Consider the combination of options that suits the needs of your family. For example, if you are going to Disney World for less than a week, the Park Hopper will have you running from park to park, which can be exhausting. Keep in mind that each Disney park is large in itself.

Be aware that Disney tickets aren't discounted. If you hear that Disney park tickets can be purchased much cheaper online, at an auction or from an individual, be wary. Never buy Disney tickets from anyone but an official licensed broker.
