The most important thing to remember is balance when eating bacon, eggs and toast for breakfast. You want to balance all of the aspects of your meal so that you don't take too much of any one thing. Also, remember the concept of the differential. You can tweak your breakfast to make it even healthier by omitting things that don't really matter to you. See the steps below to help you re-evaluate and balance what you are eating-the next time you eat breakfast.

Instructions

Some people need and want the whole egg. Others are fine with egg whites. If you like egg whites, go ahead and have two or three. Egg whites have a lot of protein, have virtually no fat and fill you up. They are a good investment. If you want the yolks, have less.

Another option if you prefer, is turkey or veggie bacon or sausage. This is what I usually choose, because to me, the differential is negligible. The difference in taste between turkey bacon and regular bacon isn't worth the difference in calories and fat.

If you want butter on your toast and you make your eggs at home, use a nonstick cooking spray for the eggs. Butter is delicious, but you do not need to put it on everything. If you order eggs in a restaurant, you can bet it will be cooked in butter or oil, so in this case skip the butter on your toast and use an all-fruit spread instead.

Do you want two scrambled eggs with a slice of whole wheat toast? If you eat this, you have deposited plenty of protein in your account, so you really do not need bacon. But if you are still craving bacon, have just one scrambled egg and one slice of turkey bacon with your toast.

Another healthy and low-cal option is to add lots of filling, high-volume, fiber-rich, nutrient-dense vegetables to your eggs. Mix them into scrambled eggs or fold them into an omelet. Salsa counts too. Vegetables fill you up with very few calories, plus they add a lot of extra flavor and interest to your breakfast, which will satisfy you and make you less likely to be hungry again in an hour.
