Going green and saving the planet is the subject of many conversations. Here is a way to contribute by reusing and recycling newspapers.

  1. Step 1
     

    Gardeners this is a great way to recycle newspapers. Open newspapers and spread a few sheets down in the garden in a clear area. Spread fresh mulch on the top of the newspapers. This will stop weeds from popping up. When the newspaper starts to decompose work it back into the soil with the mulch to richen the dirt.

  2. Step 2

    This is a good home and garden recycling tip. At the end of the gardening season clean old tools with WD-40. Dry the garden tools with newspaper. And wrap the dried tools in fresh newspaper to store for the winter. The newspaper is suppose to stop the garden tools from getting rusty.

  3. Step 3

    Old newspaper make an excellent filler or packing material. Simply crinkle up and place around items in the package.

  4. Step 4

    Use the "Colorful Sunday Comics" section to wrap presents for kids. They will delight them plus serve to recycle newspapers.

  5. Step 5

    Use left over newspaper to wrap textbooks or cover a novel you're reading and keep nosy eyes away.

  6. Step 6

    Recycle old newspaper when moving. Use the newspaper to wrap fragile items like china, glasses, porcelain before placing in packing boxes.

    Use newspaper when painting rooms. Place layers of the newspaper around the room to catch paint drops and spills.

  8. Step 8

    Use newspapers to line inside of kitchen cabinets or windowsills. Easy and economical to change when needed.

  9. Step 9

    Use crinkled up newspapers to place in bags and purses to help them retain their shape before storing for the season.

  10. Step 10

    Use a few sheets of newspapers along the entryway into the home when it's messy outside. Get the family to wipe their shoes on newspapers and leave there and prevent tracking dirt on rugs and clean floors inside the home.
