How to Make Turkey Meatballs With Simple Tomato Sauce
Turkey meatballs with a small amount of sauce, are a great way to incorporate protein into your diet. The meatballs will give you protein-and served with a large salad, the veggies will fill you up. Here is my recipe for delicious, nutritious turkey meatballs. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- For Meatballs:
- 1.3 lbs. lowfat (7 percent) ground turkey
- 1 large clove garlic (or 2 small, minced)
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan
- 1/2 cup parsley, minced
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 3 oz. ice cream scoop
- 1 tbsp. olive oil
- Nonstick pan
- For Sauce:
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 24 oz. can of tomatoes
- 4 medium cloves of garlic, minced
- 6 leaves basil
- Sauce pot
- Potato masher

Start with the meatballs by combining the turkey, garlic, parmesan cheese, parsley, salt and pepper.

Form into meatballs using the ice cream scoop. Brown on all sides in the nonstick pan in 1 tbsp. olive oil over medium heat.

While the meatballs are cooking, begin the sauce. Heat 2 tbsp. olive oil in the pot over medium heat. Add in the garlic, salt and pepper until sizzling-don't let it burn!

Add the tomatoes and crush with the potato masher. Simmer the entire sauce on low for 20 minutes.

After the meatballs are finished, plate them and add a small amount of the tomato sauce to each one. Add fresh basil and salt and pepper to taste.

Tips & Warnings
Remember not to put too much sauce on the meatballs.
Don't go overboard on the salad dressing.

This looks delicious! We eat a lot of ground turkey and it is nice to find a meatball recipe that doesn't call for bread crumbs for those of us who have to watch our carbohydrate intake. 5 stars. -

Thanks Bethanny for this great recipe! My husband and I eat Turkey Meatballs alot with pasta as a healthy choice! We have also baked these using a mini muffin pan which worked well also! Have a great day! -
