Things You'll Need:
- A Birthday Party!
-
Step 1
Determine the demographics of your birthday guest of honor as well as the additional guests. Is it a party for a young child, a tween, an adult, etc? For example, if the party is for a young child, will there be many children as guests or mainly adults such as family members? Establish a budget. Remember, a quality birthday cake does not necessarily have to cost big money.
-
Step 2
What size birthday cake is best? Estimate your number of guests. Do you want a sheet cake or a layered cake? Choose a cake type (such as yellow, chocolate, carrot, etc.)as well as frosting/filling ( such as fruit filling, cream cheese, chocolate whipped cream, etc). How will the cake be decorated? With photographs, icing flowers, trinkets, etc?
-
Step 3
Consider local bakeries and cafes, grocery stores, warehouse clubs, and internet-based prepared food sites when placing your order. Warehouse club cakes can feed a crowd and are inexpensive, but consider all options to fit your party demographics. Perhaps for a more chic birthday party, a custom cake from a grocery store or a specialty bakery would be ideal.
-
Step 4
Order cake. Do this in-store, by phone, fax, or online. Ensure that all aspects of your order are clear. Upon pick-up, you don’t want to discover a mistake the vendor does not have the time or ability to correct! The order taker should review your order with you if done over-the phone or by email, and give you a copy of the order if done in person.
-
Step 5
Pick up your cake and ensure that specifications have been met in terms of accurate ordering. A quality birthday cake is moist, delicious, and decorated as requested. No one wants to pay for stale cake and icing decorations that you feel you could have done yourself!
-
Step 6
Enjoy Your Party and Quality Birthday Cake!
