How to Cure Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a painful condition that commonly affects people who use a computer keyboard. There are different degrees of carpal tunnel syndrome. In mild cases, hand and wrist pain typically subsides on its own and doesn't require treatment. On the other hand, severe cases of carpal tunnel syndrome generally require medical attention.

1
Take frequent breaks. If you're dealing with a mild case of carpal tunnel syndrome, take breaks to rest your hands. Leave the computer and apply a cold pack to your hands and wrist. This can ease pain and tingling.
-
2
Wear a wrist splint. Splints are designed to heal injuries, and they can effectively reduce the pain associated with carpal tunnel syndrome. Wrist splints should be worn while resting or sleeping.

3
Take an over-the-counter medication. Pain from carpal tunnel syndrome is often due to inflammation. Controlling the inflammation is the first step to stopping the pain. Take a non-prescription anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen.

4
Get a cortisone shot. If carpal tunnel pain doesn't respond to anti-inflammatory medications, talk to your doctor about a cortisone shot. Doctors inject the medication directly into the carpal tunnel. Cortisone reduces inflammation and stops carpal tunnel pain.

5
Consider carpal tunnel surgery. When non-surgical treatments are ineffective, doctors may recommend surgery to ease pain, numbness and tingling. During this procedure, a surgeon makes a small incision in the wrist and cuts the ligament that causes pressure and pain on the median nerve.
