1
Choose a program that is direct and easy to use while driving. "Learn in Your Car Spanish" and "Behind the Wheel Spanish" are two good choices (see Resources). Test the tape or CD for defects before playing it for the first time. If it skips or sounds distorted, immediately return it to the store that you bought it from.
-
2
Play the language lessons in your tape or CD player. Listen carefully to the way that the speaker pronounces each word or phrase.

-
3
When prompted, recite what the speaker said. Find ways to associate the word or phrase with the item that is being described. Rewind and repeat the lesson as many times as needed before moving on.
-
4
Remember what you have learned by stopping the audio program and speaking Spanish out loud. Refer to the tape or CD with any questions that you might have.
-
5
Once you have mastered one program, purchase the next level and begin using it. Refer to the previous lessons by storing the tapes or CDs in a case that will make them easy to access while driving.

Tips & Warnings
Practicing in the car is not enough to master a language. Speak Spanish every chance you get.
Do not attempt to change audio tapes or CDs when your attention should be on the road. Putting the language lessons in the tape deck or CD player before your commute is ideal.
