Kicker is a well-respected name in car audio, and they're probably best known for their subwoofers. If you've got a 10" Kicker subwoofer, you'll need to connect it to an amplifier to make it work. Follow some simple steps and you'll have it connected in no time.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Car amplifier
  • Kicker 10" subwoofer
  • Speaker wire
  • Wire cutters/strippers
  • Screwdriver
  1. Step 1

Measure the distance from your amplifier to your Kicker 10" subwoofer. Take into account how you'll need to route the speaker wire that will be going from the amplifier to the subwoofer. Cut a length of speaker wire the length you've measured, plus 6 to 8 inches extra, just in case.

  2. Step 2

Strip the insulation from the ends of the speaker wire so that 3/8 to 1/2 an inch of bare wire is visible. Twist the bare wire if it is stranded, so that the ends are tight and compact.

  3. Step 3

Loosen the screw terminals on the speaker outputs of the amplifier. These will be marked "positive" and "negative": "+" and "-". Slide the end of the positive lead of the speaker wire underneath the screw terminal and tighten down until the wire is securely in place. Slide the end of the negative lead of the speaker wire underneath the screw terminal and tighten down until the wire is securely in place.

  4. Step 4

Run your speaker wire along the route you've chosen from the amp to your 10" Kicker subwoofer. Loosen the speaker wire input terminals of the subwoofer, and insert the wires. Be sure to insert the positive lead of the speaker wires into the positive terminal of the subwoofer, and the negative lead of the speaker wire into the negative terminal of the subwoofer.

  5. Step 5

Tighten the terminals until the wire is secure. Now you've hooked up your amp to a Kicker subwoofer.
