Nylon headbands are an effective way to reuse old pantyhose. They're easy to make--and you can make several headbands out of a single pair of hose without wasting much of the hose. Sewing is optional in some cases, since nylon is a stretchy fabric. And even if your hose has some runs in it, it's still a great candidate to use for making nylon headbands.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut the pantyhose horizontally across the widest part of the thigh, right under the crotch. See "Additional Resources," below, for ways to reuse the top part of the pantyhose.

  2. Step 2

Cut out a 5-inch-wide strip from each leg.

  3. Step 3

Roll the edges of the 5-inch-wide strips to create a kind of hem, and use it to hold back your hair.

  4. Step 4

Continue cutting 5-inch-wide strips from each leg until the headbands you cut out are too tight. You should be able to get a few more headbands out of one pair.

Tips & Warnings
  • Brightly colored or printed pantyhose will make for more exciting and fun headbands.
