How to Make Nylon Headbands

Nylon headbands are an effective way to reuse old pantyhose. They're easy to make--and you can make several headbands out of a single pair of hose without wasting much of the hose. Sewing is optional in some cases, since nylon is a stretchy fabric. And even if your hose has some runs in it, it's still a great candidate to use for making nylon headbands. Instructions

    • 1

Cut the pantyhose horizontally across the widest part of the thigh, right under the crotch. See "Additional Resources," below, for ways to reuse the top part of the pantyhose.

    • 2

Cut out a 5-inch-wide strip from each leg.

    • 3

Roll the edges of the 5-inch-wide strips to create a kind of hem, and use it to hold back your hair.

    • 4

Continue cutting 5-inch-wide strips from each leg until the headbands you cut out are too tight. You should be able to get a few more headbands out of one pair.
