How to Make a Paper Blow Gun

Blowguns are small weapons that consist of a small tube for shooting darts or other projectiles. The user blows in one end and shoots the projectile out the other, using their respiratory muscles. Many cultures around the world, including tribes in South America and Southeast Asia, have used blowguns for hunting small animals. Blowguns are often made from materials such as wood, metal and even paper.

Instructions

    • 1

Get a piece of paper that is roughly 8.5 by 11 inches. Standard printer paper will work, but thicker paper such as construction paper is preferred.

    • 2

Carefully roll up the paper into a tube. A pencil can be used to make the rolling easier by rolling the paper around the pencil.

    • 3

Tape both ends of the tube, then remove the pencil. Tape the middle of the tube to keep the paper secure and in place.

    • 4

Put tape around the end where you want your mouth to go. The tape will help prevent your saliva from damaging the blowgun.

    • 5

Place something in the opposite end that fits comfortably, and blow into the tube to shoot the projectile outward.

Tips & Warnings

  • Small, crumpled pieces of paper are a good source of ammunition for a paper blowgun. A target can also be made and placed on the wall to test your shooting ability.

  • Blowguns can be dangerous if used improperly and should not be aimed at people.
