How to Make Bath Salts & Oils

Using bath salts and bath oils are wonderful ways to relax and soothe aching muscles. The herbs and essential oils you use can also have therapeutic effects. Making bath salts and oils is easy to do, and you can customize them to your individual taste by using different fragrances of essential oils. De-stress with a long, relaxing bath in your own bath salts or using your own bath oil.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup sea salt
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
  • 5 oz. grape seed oil
  • 25 drops essential oil(any fragrance)
  • 1 pint canning jar
  • Measuring cup
  • 2 mixing bowls
  • Spoon
  • Fresh herbs
  • Olive oil
  • 1 pint canning jars (2)
  • Paper coffee filter

    How to Make Bath Salts

  1. Step 1

    Mix 1 cup sea salt and 1 cup baking soda in a bowl and set aside.

  2. Step 2

    Mix 1 tsp. vitamin E oil and 5 oz. grape seed oil and pour into the canning jar.

  3. Step 3

    Slowly add the salt/baking powder mixture into the oil mixture in the canning jar. Mix well.

  4. Step 4

    Slowly add 25 drops of essential oil, mixing well.

  5. Step 5

    Place the lid on the jar tightly and store in a cool, dark place. Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup bath salts to your bath.

  6. How to Make Natural Bath Oil

  7. Step 1

    Take a clean canning jar and pack well with desired fresh herbs.

  8. Step 2

    Fill the jar with olive oil. Place lid tightly on jar and set in a sunny spot for 30 days. Each day, shake the jar to distribute the herbs throughout the oil.

  9. Step 3

    After 30 days, take the second canning jar, place the coffee filter over the opening of the jar and pour the oil and herbs into the coffee filter. This will allow only the oil to filter through into the new jar.

  10. Step 4

    When complete, tighten lid and place in the bathroom. Add 2 to 3 teaspoons to bath water.
