Things You'll Need:
- Spray bottle
- Water
- Vinegar
- Lemon juice or ammonia
- Baking soda
- Cleaning cloths
-
Step 1
Pre-treat your fireplace glass by rubbing plain baking soda over its surface. It will act as both an abrasive and a cleaner to remove any soot or grime. Wipe away.
-
Step 2
Fill a spray bottle three-fourths full with warm water. Add 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon of vinegar, and 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice or ammonia. Cover and shake well until the baking soda is dissolved.
-
Step 3
Spray the cleaner onto the surface of the fireplace glass. Scrub with a cloth and wipe away the dirt. Repeat if necessary. Clean both sides of the glass for a clean, crisp look.
-
Step 4
Buff the glass to a shine with a clean cloth. Store the excess spray cleaner for future fireplace glass cleanups.

on 9/25/2009 Cool! I love making homemade cleaners. People with skin problems can't handle cleaners, and it's better for the environment too. Thanks, Naima
