How to Make a Support Group Pamphlet

A support group pamphlet is a kind of advertisement. Your pamphlet can educate people about the problem your support group serves to address, but the most important thing is for it to get people in the door in the first place. A good support group pamphlet should say who you are, what you do and how you can help in a friendly, accessible way.

Write a title at the top of the first page telling who you are and what this pamphlet is for. It could just say your name or allude to what you do. For example, a cat huffing recovery group might have a title like "You Can Quit Huffing."

    • 2

Begin with a basic explanation of who your support group is and what it does. You should include information about the region and community you serve, what you do for that community, whether you are part of a national chapter and what beliefs or religious affiliations you have as an organization. You can use bullet points or paragraph format, but the entire explanation should not be longer than a paragraph or two long. That way, someone who needs help can quickly find out if your group caters to his problem.

    • 3

Provide some information about the condition your support group exists to help. People suffering from diseases or addictions are often nervous about asking for help or even reluctant to admit that they have problems. By stating the effects of a disease or the signs of an addiction, you may be able to help people acknowledge they have a problem and get the help they need.

    • 4

Provide more detailed information about what your group does. If you have volunteer counselors, a hotline, biweekly support meetings or chapters in hundreds of cities, this is the place to say it. Show that your group has the resources to help.

    • 5

Give contact information. You should include your organization's phone number, where it meets and when, and any email or website information inside the pamphlet in a larger font than the rest of the text. Contact info should be the last thing in the pamphlet.
