How To Remove Glue on a Hair Extension

Hair extensions are a way to change a woman's look, especially if she wants to instantly lengthen her hair. Glued-in extensions are a popular option because they are not as time consuming as getting a weave. Special glue is used to add the extensions to the hair. Improper removal of hair extensions causes breakage and other damage to existing hair. There a few basic steps to remove glue on a hair extension.

Things You'll Need

• Water
• Olive oil
• Hair Essence Hair Bonding Glue Remover
• Shampoo
• Conditioner

Instructions

1. Mix olive oil and water. Add a half cup of water to a cup of olive oil.

2. Place the olive oil and water mixture all over the hair. Or, if you are using Hair Essence Hair Bonding Glue Remover, squirt the glue remover along the hair tracks. Let the products sit on the hair for about 20 minutes.

3. If the hair extensions are still difficult to remove, let sit for another 10 minutes. Hair extensions should just slide off when softened.

4. Excess glue often remains after hair extension tracks are removed. Using your fingers, gently remove leftover glue. You can add a little olive oil to your hands to assist in the removal process.

5. Shampoo and condition your hair as usual. This will remove any residual hair glue and oil.
