How to Tie a Ribbon for a Present
Ribbons make a package complete. A well tied ribbon and bow add elegance and beauty to any gift. It may take some practice, but once you get the idea, it is very simple. Wire edged ribbon works the best, but any ribbon will do. The thickness of the ribbon doesn't matter, but the length is very important.

1
Unravel the ribbon and wrap it around the present. As you twist the ribbon on the back of the present, make sure to turn it so the print or shiny side is toward you. Leave a long length of it on both ends for the bow.

2
Pull the ribbon tight and tie a secure knot on the front of the package. The ribbon print should be face up. Make a loop for the first part of the bow and slide the other length of the ribbon around it making the center loop. Twist the ribbon as it goes around the back of the loop so the right side faces you. Pull the second part of the ribbon loop through and pull the bow tight.

3
Hold the center knot and reduce the size of each bow half by pulling the end of the ribbon toward you. This will ensure the bow fits the package. Turn the leftover lengths of ribbon so the right side always faces you and trim the ends with the scissors.

4
Adjust the knot by smoothing it out. The ribbon can be puffed a bit using your fingertips.
