Instructions

    • 1

Take the 1/4 cup of oatmeal and put it the blender. Set the blender on "Blend" and blend for 20 seconds. This will grind the oatmeal into finer particles which will give your face mask a consistency that is easier to work with. Put the oatmeal in a small bowl and set aside.

    • 2

Wash the apple. If you are not sure if the apple has come into contact with pesticides or not, peel the skin from the apple. If you know it is an apple that has not come into contact with chemicals, leave the skin on the apple.

    • 3

Core the apple and cut it into cubes. Place half of the cubes in a blender.

    • 4

Set the blender to "Chop" and chop for 10 seconds, then change the setting to "Puree" and puree for 15 seconds.

    • 5

Add the 2 teaspoons of heavy cream, the 2 tablespoons of honey and the ground oatmeal to the pureed apple. Blend in blender for 30 seconds. If your mixture appears too thin or watery, add more apple or oatmeal until it is at a pasty consistency. Oatmeal will probably work better as the apple will add more liquid along with the fiber. If it is too thick, add more heavy cream.

    • 6

Place the apple face mask mixture in a sealable bowl. What you don't use on your face can be saved in the fridge for up to four days for later use.

    • 7

Wash your hands and face before applying the apple face mask. Spread the mask over the skin and leave on for a half-hour. Remove the mixture from your face with warm water.

Tips & Warnings

  • 100% pure apple juice can be substituted for the heavy cream. While it will not have an effect on your face that is as softening, it will still leave your skin refreshed and free of dead skin cells.

  • When rinsing the mask off your face, set a sink strainer in place over your drain to catch the thick apple and oatmeal bits.
