When you have already spent time and money to choose and create the perfect gift for someone, it is important to finish the job by wrapping it up nicely. Choose colorful gift wrap and then take a couple of extra minutes to create your own bow instead of using a ready-made one. It is not difficult to make a bow and this way you can coordinate it perfectly with the wrap you have selected.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Polypropylene ribbon (at least 1-inch width)
  • Twist tie wire
  • Scissors
  1. Step 1

Wrap the ribbon loosely around your non-dominant hand at least five times. For a more full bow, wrap more times. For a bigger bow, spread the fingers apart slightly.

  2. Step 2

Remove the ribbon from your hand carefully and fold the ribbon in half length-wise.

  3. Step 3

Cut notches into each edge of the ribbon at the half-way folded point. Do not cut these notches through the center point of the ribbons.

  4. Step 4

Wrap a twist tie wire around the center at the notches. Twist the wire tightly to secure the bow. Tie a short length of ribbon around the center to conceal the wire.

  5. Step 5

Pull the loops apart one at a time to separate the loops and make the bow full and round. Pull the loops out to all the sides. You can also twist the loops after they have been separated to keep them in the position you place them. Work slowly and carefully to make the bow nice and full.

  6. Step 6

Clip the ends of the ribbon at an angle to prevent fraying.

  7. Step 7

Attach the bow to a gift with clear tape on the underside.
