Internet Explorer is by far the most well-known web browser, and when you buy a home computer or laptop, Internet Explorer is likely to be already loaded and ready to use. Other web browsers may contain features that are more to your liking. If you've downloaded an alternative web browser and are ready to say goodbye to Internet Explorer, it may be time to get rid of Iexplore.exe for good.

Tips & Warnings
  • Compare Internet browsers and their features carefully before committing to eliminating Internet Explorer altogether from your system. Many Internet downloads are designed to work easily with Internet Explorer, and may require you to install a patch of sorts in order to operate with alternative operating systems. A feasible compromise is to keep both and just select the one you prefer as your default browser. Check to see if you have downloaded Windows XP Service Pack 3, which is denoted as Windows XP SP3 on your program list. If so, you will need to first uninstall it before uninstalling Iexplorer.exe.
