How to Clean a Glass Cooktop Range
Smooth-top electric ranges have all but replaced the traditional coil burner design. The smooth surface is simple to clean, and you don't have to disassemble your range or deal with drip pans. On the other hand, glass cooktops do require frequent cleaning to maintain a shiny appearance, and certain cleaners can cause scratches and damage to the finish. Always use a cleaner specifically labeled for use on glass-top ranges, and wipe up spills right away to prevent burnt-on stains. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

1
Wait until the glass cooktop surface is cool to the touch before cleaning it. If the surface is hot, the cleaner won't work properly.
-
2
Pour a small amount (about 1 tbsp.) of glass cooktop cleaner onto the range and spread it around to cover the entire glass surface. If you don't want to get the cleaner on your hands, you can put your hand inside a sandwich bag before smearing the cleaner around.

3
Leave it sit for about an hour for best results. You may only need to wait a few minutes if you clean your range every day. If the surface has burnt-on spills, you can leave the cleaner on overnight to soften the dirt.
-
4
Wipe the cleaner off with a damp soft cloth. You don't need to rinse the cooktop, but try to remove as much cleaner residue as possible.
-
5
Use a razor blade scraper, held at a 30 to 45 degree angle, to scrape up any stubborn burnt on spills. Don't worry about scratching the glass; the stainless steel blade is softer than the glass surface.
-
6
Repeat Steps 2 through 5 if your range isn't yet clean.
-
7
Buff the cooktop's surface with a dry paper towel to restore its shine.

Tips & Warnings
To maintain your cooktop's clean appearance, wipe up spills right away, and clean the range after every two or three uses. If you don't have a razor blade scraper tool, try using the open side of a soda bottle cap to scrub off burnt-on spills and splatters.
Be careful when handling a razor blade scraper to prevent injury.
