Things You'll Need:
- Hat
- Ribbon
- Feathers
- Flowers
- Scarves
- Brooch
- Hat pins
- Hot glue
- Easter embellishments such as butterflies, eggs or birds
-
Step 1
Purchase or reuse a hat. Shop your closet for a hat you already own that could be altered or search thrift stores, re-sale shops or sales for a usable hat. Select a simple hat.
-
Step 2
Visit your local craft store and purchase supplies for your Easter hat. Consider light colored ribbon if you have a dark hat. Coordinate your Easter hat and Easter outfit. Think about using pastel ribbons, feathers, flowers, scarves, brooches and hat pins.
-
Step 3
Put your Easter hat together. Hot glue ribbon around the hat, creating a hat band. Add a bow at the back or side of the hat if you like the look. Use flower pins to attach silk flowers. Hot glue feathers at the hat's base. Tie a scarf or ribbon to hide the base of the feathers. Secure a scarf with hat pins or hot glue the ribbon. Add a brooch or pin to the front or side of the hat. Be creative, it's got to look good to you.
-
Step 4
Try your Easter hat on and make adjustments. Model your hat and Easter outfit to see how it looks. Notice items that may be out of place or need securing. Check to make sure all embellishments are properly secured and will not fall off. Remove your hat and make adjustments.
-
Step 5
Add extra Easter symbols. Consider adding extra embellishments to your Easter hat such as Easter eggs, birds or butterflies. Attach these items with pins so they are easily removed, allowing you to wear your hat after Easter.
