How to Calibrate a Pocket Thermometer
Several conditions can make a pocket thermometer read the wrong temperature, including simply knocking the thermometer. To ensure accuracy, you should calibrate your thermometer at least once a day, when you use it after it has been stored for a few days, or after you wash it. Does this Spark an idea?

Fill a cup with crushed ice and top it off with cold water to at least 2 inches deep.

Insert the thermometer into the cup. Let it set for two and a half minutes. For the most accurate reading, use tweezers or another tool to hold the thermometer. Using your hands or letting the thermometer rest on the side of the cup may make the reading less accurate.

Check the temperature. If it does not read 32 degrees Fahrenheit, use the slide on the bottom of the thermometer's face to adjust the temperature to 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
