How to Fix Hair Color
It is so easy to mess up hair color when dyeing or bleaching hair. If only it were so easy to fix the mistakes. Occasionally it is easy to do, but usually it can require choosing a whole new color or visiting a salon. Before going to those measures, you can attempt a few different fixes to see if it will help. If your new hair color has taken unevenly, darker at the roots or in spots, you will need to add more of the same color to the lighter areas and leave it on for 5 to 7 minutes to even out the color. Follow the directions on the package for rinsing.

Sometimes the color just isn't what it looked like on the package. For example, if you have dark hair and tried to lighten it to blond but instead it turned orange, you simply chose a color that was too light for a one-step process and you will need to do it again. In order to prevent breakage, you should wait a week before attempting to fix it.

To lighten hair that has come out too dark, washing your hair right away is sometimes helpful, as well as blow drying and even swimming to help fade the color to a more natural look.

When you just don't like the color, or it didn't take well at all on your hair, you may want to choose another color to offset it, or add highlights to brighten it up and let it grow out.
