The Solitaire Board Game is known under several different names. One of the more common names it goes by is I.Q. Games. The goal is to jump pegs in the playing area and remove as many as possible before you no longer have any moves remaining. Ideally, your goal is to have one peg remaining and have it end up as the middle peg on the game board. That can be a very challenging goal.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Place all of your pegs in the solitaire game board for your solitaire board game. There should be enough pegs so that you can fill up every hole on the game board.

  2. Step 2

Remove one of the pegs on the game board. In the classic version of the solitaire board game, you should remove the center peg from the playing area. You can actually choose any hole you wish, though.

  3. Step 3

Start the solitaire board game by jumping any peg you wish with another peg. You can only jump one peg at a time, though, and there must be an empty space next to the peg that you jump to place the jumping peg into.

  4. Step 4

Remove the peg that you jumped from the game board. You can either keep it on the table next to you or find a small cup to keep with your solitaire board game to hold the pegs.

  5. Step 5

Continue jumping pegs until you can not jump any remaining pegs on the playing board. It is possible to have pegs next to each and not be able to jump if there are no open holes in the direction you are jumping.

  6. Step 6

Count the number of pegs remaining on your solitaire game board. A perfect score is one peg remaining in the hole that you originally left empty. The next best score is having one peg left anywhere else on the game board. If multiple players are taking turns and playing against each other, the player with the fewest pegs remaining is the winner. Ties are possible in the solitaire board game.

Tips & Warnings
  • The classic Solitaire Board Game is in the shape of a cross, but there are many other shapes available including triangle and square shaped playing boards.
  • Be careful not to lose your pegs for your solitaire board game. If you do lose them though, toothpicks broken in half can be used as replacement pegs.
