How to Install PC Tools Firewall Plus for Vista

Any computer user who values his personal information should have a sturdy line of defense against intruders. PC Tools Firewall Plus is that line of defense--a security program that prevents malicious software from damaging your computer and swiping your personal information. Firewall Plus is user-friendly and works invisibly to secure the Internet or a network, and it doesn't obstruct a system's performance like some other security programs do.

Instructions

  1. Installing PC Tools Firewall Plus for Windows Vista

    • 1

Open your web browser and navigate to the PC Tools Firewall Plus download page (the link is available in "Additional Resources," below).

    • 2

Click on the green box that says "Start FREE Download Now!"

    • 3

When the download box appears, click on "Save" and save it to the system folder of your choice. The best destination folder would be the "Programs" folder.

    • 4

Before you install PC Tools Firewall Plus, close all open windows and disable your existing firewall by clicking on "Start" and then choosing "Control Panel."

    • 5

      Click on "Security."

    • 6

Click on "Turn Windows Firewall on or off."

    • 7

When the "Windows Firewall Settings" screen appears, click on "Off (not recommended)," select "Apply," and then choose "OK." This will disable Windows Firewall and enable you to install PC Tools Firewall Plus as your default firewall software.

    • 8

Close all open windows besides the PC Tools Firewall Plus Installation Wizard.

    • 9

Follow the instructions in the Installation Wizard. Read and accept the user license agreement (the installation will be denied if you decline the agreement). When the Installation Wizard is finished, you should restart your computer whether you are prompted to or not. This will allow the changes to take effect. When the computer is restarted, PC Tools Firewall Plus will be installed as your default firewall software.

What you had given here is fine but I think the question was "How to Install PC Tools Firewall Plus for Vista", You have mentioned only the installation procedure ... On installation PCTOOLS firewall just acts as ordinary open gateway!!! It does not block any outgoing or incoming traffic!!! It would have been better if you had given a list of windows process to block, or to allow net access!!!
