Umbrella strollers are convenient to take along to trips to the mall or grocery stores. They fit well in the trunk of the car, but that means putting them in there with a spare tire or the kids' dirty football gear. Making a cover for the stroller will keep it clean and ready for baby the next time you need to use it. Making the cover from a washable fabric will even make it easier to keep everything clean.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Measure the stroller's height (folded) and add four inches. Measure all the way around the outside of the stroller when folded and add two inches. Transfer those measurements to a piece of brown wrapping paper and cut out a pattern piece. Now measure the bottom of the stroller while folded to make a square bottom piece. Add one inch to each measurement for seams. Cut this out of brown paper also.

  2. Step 2

Sew your first piece down the long side with the right sides of the fabric together. Leave the last inch and a half open. On the closed end of the long piece, sew on your bottom piece. With the right side of the material facing in, sew 1/2 inch seams all the way around the square. You should now have a long tube.

  3. Step 3

Fold the unfinished end 1-1/4 inches over, with the wrong sides of the fabric facing each other, and then tuck the 1/4 inch up inside. Sew all the way around. This will leave an open space to place your cord.

  4. Step 4

Turn the cover right side out. Place a safety pin on the end of the decorative rope or cord and work it around the top opening. Pull out the other side and take off the safety pin. Tie each end of the cord into a knot so it won't slip back into the hole. Now you can put in the stroller, pull the top closed with the cord and tie to keep it closed.
