How to Use a Pagoda Outdoor Fireplace

Use a pagoda outdoor fireplace for entertaining on the patio even when cool weather would otherwise dictate an indoor gathering. The cast iron screening contains a large fire to warm wide areas. Asian style fireplaces like the chiminea come with stainless steel grill racks that slide in above the flames and allow cooking for an outdoor event. Other fireplace accessories aid in storing and managing logs inside the fire and out. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Stand the pagoda fireplace on a level concrete surface. This assures stability and aids in fire safety.

    • 2

Slide the ash tray out from under the grate and clean before each use. Replace the tray and secure it.

    • 3

Stack logs over kindling on top of the grate. Use a generous amount of kindling twigs. The wide open airflow will burn a small amount of twigs before the logs catch fire. Lay the logs in crossing rows with room for airflow between them.

    • 4

Light the kindling at both ends and in the middle. Use a fireplace match or candle lighter to keep hands at a safe distance. Close the doors and secure the latch.

    • 5

Add more logs to sustain the fire when necessary. Open one door at a time with a stoker in hand to prevent burning logs from escaping. Use tongs to place new logs into the fire.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep a hose within reach of the fireplace while it's in use.

  • Never use an outdoor fireplace on a windy day. Sparks can escape the screening and set fire to a home or landscape
