Making beautiful cookies in different shapes adds a special touch to holiday tables. In order to have perfectly shaped cookies, a cookie cutter should be used. However, it is not necessary to purchase expensive sets of cookie cutters. Create your own cookie cutters using these instructions.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 20- gauge aluminum sheeting
  • Heavy shears
  • Three glasses in various sizes
  • Masking tape or double-sided tape
  1. Step 1

Cut 20-gauge aluminum sheeting with heavy shears. The metal should be cut into 3/4 inch-wide strips and should be about 10-20 inches long. The length of the strips depends on the size you want your cookies to be.

  2. Step 2

Use the edge of the blade on the shears to bend the corners. Be careful not to overbend the aluminum. This may cause the metal to snap.

  3. Step 3

Use one small glass, one slightly larger glass and one large glass to create perfectly round edges. Arrange the glasses to create the shape of a snowman.

  4. Step 4

Hold the center of the aluminum strip at the top of the smaller glass. Bend the aluminum down and around the three cups. The two ends of the metal strip should meet at the bottom of the larger glass.

  5. Step 5

Secure the ends with masking or double-sided tape. If using double-sided tape, apply it to one end, slightly overlap both ends and pinch them together.

Tips & Warnings
  • Aluminum sheeting can be purchased at a hardware store.
